Bath and North East Somerset Council (BANES) are planning to release sections of our Green Belt to build hundreds of homes on.
The Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, Eric Pickles, has made it very clear that we must make, ‘the most of every single square inch of brownfield land, every vacant home and every disused building’, and that our green spaces and countryside should be safeguarded.
It is BANES’ responsibility to explain why normal planning and development management policies would not be adequate and to demonstrate the necessity to use the Green Belt before any of it can be released.
The building industry and landowners will be lobbying hard for access to Green Belt sites, so we must also lobby our representatives to make sure our Green Belt and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty remain protected.
Many thanks!
